DAVID VALDÉS has enjoyed a lengthy career in the motion picture industry producing a few forgettable titles, many fun movies (17 films with Clint Eastwood, 4 films with Francis Ford Coppola, a couple with Kevin Costner to name drop a few) and a few special titles he proudly calls classics (“THE GREEN MILE” & “UNFORGIVEN”). Most recently, David spent 3 1⁄2 years as Executive Producer on the long-awaited sequels to another screen classic, “AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER”.
A Los Angeles, California native, David Valdés earned a Bachelor of Theater Arts degree from UCLA (somehow graduating Magna Cum Laude) and began his film career as an assistant director alongside such directors as Martin Scorsese, Wim Wenders, Clint Eastwood and Francis Ford Coppola. Some of those early films include “RAGING BULL,” “HAMMETT”, “ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN, “FIREFOX”, “THE OUTSIDERS” and “RUMBLE FISH”. David segued into producing as an associate producer on Eastwood’s “PALE RIDER” in 1984.
David is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Directors Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America and the American Film Institute. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Theater Center (LATC). He’s has had several films nominated in various Oscar categories over the years; David was nominated himself for Best Picture (“THE GREEN MILE”) in 2000.
To satisfy his continuous hunger as a storyteller, David is currently developing a western themed Broadway musical and a 1962 Latino Rock n’ Roll story.
